IFPTE Responds to the Departure of OPM Director, Kiran Ahuja

United States Office of Personnel Management Director, Kiran Ahuja, announced this week that she will be stepping down in the coming weeks from her role leading the agency. In doing she noted that, “Serving in the Biden-Harris Administration, and in support of the 2.2 million federal workers who dedicate themselves to the American people, has been the honor of my life.” OPM Deputy Director, and good friend to IFPTE, Rob Shriver, will serve as Acting Director.

IFPTE, representing upwards of 25,000 federal workers, responded to Director Ahuja’s announcement. President Matt Biggs said that, “Director Ahuja did incredibly important work helping to put in place and implement President Biden’s vision for both labor and management to work in good faith and in partnership all throughout the federal government. She will be missed. At the same time we are certain that Acting Director Shriver will continue to only build on these successes, while ensuring that our nation’s federal workers are treated with respect and dignity.”

Secretary-Treasurer, Gay Henson, said that, “Director Ahuja certainly left OPM much better off in her departure than she found it when she was confirmed. She did great work in repairing this important agency after the last administration tried to dismantle it.  We wish her and her family nothing but the best in the next phase of her career.”
