SPEEA’s Rich Plunkett Attends ASCR Task Force Meeting
SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001’s director of strategic development, Rich Plunkett, was in Washinton, DC this week to attend the Spring Aerospace Supply Chain Resilience (ASCR) task force meeting. Plunkett was named a member of the Task Force last year and also attended the group’s first meeting in January.
Plunkett commented on this week’s meetings: “The meetings this week were a continuation of the discussions we had in January regarding aerospace industry supply chains, with my primary focus being the importance of investing in workforce development to match the needs of the aerospace industry. SPEEA’s membership obviously has a keen interest in this and I am glad to bring that perspective and input to this table.”
The ASCR was created as a result of Section 106 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, to “Identify and assess risks to United States aerospace supply chains, including the availability of raw materials and critical manufactured goods, with respect to major end items produced by the aerospace industry; and the infrastructure of the National Airspace System; and identify best practices and make recommendations to mitigate those risks and support a robust United States aerospace supply chain.”
Other union representatives on the panel included Peter Greenberg from the IAMAW, Mark Erler from TWU, and Jana Denning from PASS. Learn more about the ASCR task force here.
