The IFPTE Convention is our most important event, held every three years, where our Local affiliates come together and set the future course of our union.
Purpose
Every three years our convention covers the following items to set the course of our union:
Resolutions on what policies and actions our union should take
Amendments to our constitution, if needed
Training on relevant topics and issues unions are facing
Create an opportunity for Local leaders and activists to network and build solidarity
Election of the IFPTE International Area Vice Presidents
Election of the IFPTE International President and Secretary-Treasurer
Participation
Open to any IFPTE member, but only Local delegates can be on the convention floor for the purpose of proposing, commentating, and voting on amendments, resolutions, and officers. Delegates are selected by their Locals, and the number of delegate votes a Local receives is determined by their membership numbers. See Article 12 of our constitution for more details.
