Washington Plate Printers Local 2 workers, who print all paper currency in the US, have been bargaining for a fair contract for six years. Solidarity rally to demand Bureau of Engraving and Printing stops delaying and delivers a fair contract to these essential workers
On Tuesday, April 16 at 11:30 am EST, local workers and labor leaders affiliated with the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) and the Washington Metro Labor Council, AFL-CIO will join members of Washington Plate Printers Local 2 in a Solidarity Rally to demand a fair contract now for the workers who print all the paper currency in the United States.
The plate printers have been bargaining for a contract with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, a division of the U.S. Department of Treasury, that ensures a safe workplace, fair pay and other common-sense protections afforded to most federal employees. These highly skilled workers work long hours under difficult conditions to produce the paper currency that keeps America’s economy running.
These essential workers have been there every day for the American people. It’s a travesty that they’ve been stuck in negotiations for a fair contract for six years.
