IFPTE was one of nine unions honored this week at the United States Department of Labor (DOL), which held a ceremony celebrating unions representing more than a century of service to workers.  IFPTE, founded and chartered by the American Federation of Labor in 1918, was added to the historic Century of Service Honor Roll of American Labor Organizations in the North Plaza of the historic Frances Perkins building in Washington, DC.

The event was attended by Union members from across the labor movement, and featured talks from Labor Secretary, Julie Su, and AFL-CIO President, Liz Shuler and Secretary-Treasurer, Fred Redmond.  IFPTE attendees included NPEU/IFPTE Local 70 President, Amy Chin-Lai; Administrative Assistant, Karen Nairn; Assistant to the Executive Officers, Brian Kildee; Legislative Director, Faraz Khan, Secretary-Treasurer, Gay Henson, and President, Matt Biggs.

As a Century of Service honoree, IFPTE’s logo has been added to the display of the honored Unions where it will remain for the public to see.  Among the highlights of the event was a DOL video which included our own Amy Chin Lai and was focused on celebrating how our diversity as a labor movement is our strength.
