COVID-19 Pandemic Exacerbates Pressures for the Sandwich Generation (WSN Spotlight)

This week the Women’s Solidarity Network is dedicating our spotlight to the “sandwich generation”.

With women responsible for the bulk of family care, middle-aged adult daughters are feeling the intensified pressure of simultaneously looking after their own children and older parents during this pandemic. Balancing their paid work while being a mother and caregiver, women are also assuming the role of teacher with school closures.

The WSN came across an article this week on the topic titled “COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates the pressures faced by women caregivers,” which highlights the challenges faced by countless women who are still adapting to new family dynamics and structures at home brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
