Happy Hour for Union Power! SPEEA-Local 2001 Hosts Virtual PAC Event
Last week SPEEA-Local 2001 hosted IFPTE’s first ever virtual fundraising event for IFPTE’s political action committee (PAC).
The event, titled “Happy Hour for Union Power”, was the first PAC event any IFPTE local has hosted since the beginning of the pandemic and continued IFPTE’s effort to build on the ongoing growth of the PAC program.
Focusing on the need to pass the landmark labor law reform bill, The PRO Act, SPEEA members and leaders heard from AFL-CIO Union Veterans Council (UVC) Executive Director Will Attig and Secretary Treasurer/Legislative Director Matt Biggs, as to the importance of IFPTE’s continued support for lawmakers and candidates who support labor and working families, regardless of whether they are Republican or Democrat. Attendees also heard from an aerospace professional involved in a SPEEA organizing campaign on the hurdles that she and her coworkers face in exercising their union rights while facing the employer’s anti-union campaign.
Biggs commented that, “IFPTE applauds and thanks SPEEA for continuing to be one of IFPTE’s leading locals in stepping up strong in support of the IFPTE PAC program. We particularly thank SPEEA legislative director Brandon Anderson and SPEEA Area Vice President, Joel Funfar for being vocal advocates in imparting to members the important link between a strong PAC and a successful legislative program. Thanks to all that attended and support the IFPTE PAC.”
