IFPTE Commemorates Remembrance Day and Veterans Day
As Canadians and Americans head into the November 11 holiday, IFPTE honors and thanks the service and the contributions of our nations’ veterans. We take this time to recognize the sacrifices veterans and their families have made and we recommit the fulfilling the promise we’ve made to them.
We also acknowledge that veterans are a core part of the Canadian and U.S. labor movements and IFPTE’s membership. From the historic 20th century milestones that advanced labour rights and built a strong middle class to the labour movement’s present-day efforts to uphold the values of democracy, fairness, and the public good, veterans have been there as frontline workers, as active rank-and-file members, and as union leaders.
Since IFPTE’s founding, our members have played an outsize role in strengthening our national security, as well as providing the women and men in our military with the highest quality equipment they need to protect democracy around the globe. This history of service stands as a point of pride throughout our membership. We thank and celebrate our nations’ veterans.
