WASHINGTON, DC – International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) executive council members and New Jersey local leaders released the following statements in response to today’s announcement that former Local 194 President Fran Ehret has been selected to lead CWA in the State of New Jersey.
IFPTE President Paul Shearon:
“IFPTE applauds Fran on her new position to lead CWA in the State of New Jersey. As a longtime IFPTE leader in New Jersey, Fran has been a champion for working families, and one of the public sector’s strongest advocates. We congratulate Fran and look forward to working closely with her in her new role at CWA.”
IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer/Legislative Director Matt Biggs:
“While Fran has been with CWA since 2013, she was still fighting arm and arm with IFPTE and our thousands of members in New Jersey to protect state, local and municipal working families throughout the State. CWA is well represented with Fran at the helm.”
IFPTE Executive Vice President, Gerald Newsome:
“All of us here in New Jersey, and at IFPTE nationally congratulate Fran, and wish her well as she leads CWA in our state. There is little doubt that Fran knows that her first union family here at IFPTE is here to support her and work side by side with her and her members.”
IFPTE Atlantic Area Vice President/Local 196 President, Sean McBride:
“Fran has represented New Jersey workers her entire adult life and walked countless picket lines in support of working people. We at IFPTE know about her labor credentials and know that she will represent CWA members well. Congratulations to her on her new job at CWA.”
IFPTE Atlantic Council President/Local 195 President, Tim Rudolph:
“Before going to CWA, Fran was, of course, a major leader in IFPTE, having served as President of Local 194 for many years. We at Local 195, as well as the IFPTE Atlantic Council congratulate her and look forward to working with her.”
Like CWA, IFPTE represents tens of thousands public sector workers in New Jersey.
