IFPTE Executive Officers Attend Winter AFL-CIO Executive Council Meetings

The governing body of the AFL-CIO held their Winter meetings this week in Washington, DC.  The meetings, which were attended and participated in by President Matt Biggs and Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson, included agenda items related to the AFL-CIO’s legislative and political programs, the labor movement’s efforts to build worker strength through Union organizing, and the work to build coalitions as we approach the Fall election season.

Biggs commented that “this week’s meetings were not only intended to perform the fundamental business of the AFL-CIO, including approving the budget, it also provided the opportunity to work in Solidarity and coalition with the Unions of the labor movement on everything from electing pro-worker candidates to organizing.”

Secretary-Treasurer Henson also added that “IFPTE is a proud affiliate of the AFL-CIO holding a seat on the Executive Council and remains integrally involved in these biannual meetings, as well as many other AFL-CIO committees and meetings that occur throughout the year.”
