IFPTE Expresses Disappointment in Passage of Continuing Resolution

Washington, DC - Today the Senate provided final approval for a temporary funding bill that provides zero protections for federal workers and other targets of the Musk/DOGE wrecking ball.

IFPTE President Matt Biggs said, “Senators who voted to let this bill move forward shirked their responsibility to rein in an out-of-control administration, especially those Democrats who failed to stand with IFPTE members and against the ongoing assault on our civil service, our Constitution, and working families in every state.  Within the Senate chamber this may have seemed like just another passage of a stopgap spending bill, but the reality outside the Capitol is grave and rapidly worsening.  Ignoring that reality is inexcusable.  Once the full damage of today’s action is realized, Senators who are attempting to shroud their complicity by parroting some version of the false choice narrative will find that they have fooled no one.”

IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson said, “While we are disappointed in every Senator and Representative who failed to stop this bill, we are encouraged by the historic number of IFPTE members who joined a groundswell of constituents in urging Congress to revoke the all-access pass to Elon Musk and his DOGE vandals. Throughout our bleakest moments in history, the labor movement has always served as the vanguard of the resistance and helped our nation to rally around its core principles of democracy.  The events of the past week prove that we are ready once again to rise to the challenge and fight to take our country back for those who are being left behind by this administration and this Congress.”
