IFPTE Honors and Thanks Former Local 194 President, Kevin McCarthy, for His Decades of Service to His Union

Brother Kevin McCarthy recently announced his retirement from the New Jersey Turnpike after nearly four decades of service and his retirement from his Union, IFPTE Local 194.  McCarthy has been a member of Local 194 for 35 years and served in leadership roles for many of them, including as president for 5 years.

He commented on his Union service, saying, “I am PROUD to have been a member of IFPTE Local 194 for 35 years serving as a Shop Steward, Council Officer, Executive Board as Grievance Chair, Sargent at Arms, Vice President under President Ehret and President of this great Local for 5 years. I have been honored and humbled by the trust that the members of Local 194 entrusted in me over these many years to represent them.  It is time for me to retire, as I prepare for the next phase of my life, but I will always keep my Local 194 Union card close.  I wish the members of Local 194 and the IFPTE Locals across New Jersey and all of North America nothing but success and growth.”

Local 194 President, Barry Kushnir, also commented, calling Brother McCarthy, “an icon within Local 194 and across IFPTE here in New Jersey, as well as a mentor who helped to teach me what Solidarity is all about,” while Atlantic Area Vice Presidents Sean McBride and Steve Pinto issued a joint statement noting that, “Brother Kevin McCarthy has always been there for IFPTE’s sisters and brothers throughout New Jersey whenever we called and for that we are forever grateful.”  International president, Matt Biggs and Secretary-Treasurer, Gay Henson rounded out the comments, jointly saying, “Brother McCarthy has been a true champion with IFPTE for decades and we wish he and his family nothing but the best in his retirement.”
