IFPTE Recognizes Local 21 - First Annual Public Sector Solidarity Award, Annual Scholarship Winner
This week, IFPTE presented the First Annual Public Sector Solidarity Award to IFPTE Local 21 President/Western Area Vice President, Gus Vallejo, for his outstanding contributions to IFPTE represented government workers, while also applauding public sector scholarship winner, Jade Gregory, whose father, John Gregory, is a member of Local 21.
In doing so, IFPTE commended Vallejo for delivering on the “bread and butter benefits for his members, including winning strong wage and health benefits, preserving pensions and job security, and achieving worker protections during the pandemic such as proper PPE and telecommuting.”
Gregory, whose goal is to receive a Ph.D. in physics, wrote an essay answering the question 'What Does Being Part of a Union Family Mean to Me?", saying “It means that I can do a job that I love and am good at without fear of being discriminated against.”
