IFPTE Requests Senate Confirm Michael Whitaker for FAA Administrator
Ahead of the Senate vote to confirm a new Federal Aviation Administration (FAA )Administrator, IFPTE sent Senators a letter supporting Michael G. Whitaker, President Biden’s nominee for the role.
IFPTE’s letter to the Senate noted Whittaker’s experience in FAA leadership where he was Deputy Administrator and Chief NextGen Officer from 2013 to 2016 as well as his experience in the private sector air transportation industry.
The letter also tells Senators that an “FAA Administrator is needed to convene stakeholders – including labor unions representing the airline industry workers, FAA aviation safety specialists and air traffic controllers, aircraft manufacturer workforce responsible for certification and aviation safety, and the researchers and workers who support the FAA projects and its mission – to identify the urgent solutions that the FAA will need to advance.”
