IFPTE Salutes Retired Local 561 President Regina Parker
After 33 years of service to the United States Army Corps of Engineers, IFPTE Local 561 president, Regina Parker, is set to retire on January 12th. Sister Parker’s retirement also comes after decades as a member, officer, and president of IFPTE Local 561, as well as Vice President of NFFE during her time working in Los Angeles.
IFPTE President Matt Biggs commented that “Regina Parker stepped up to assume the role of President at Local 561 during a time when the Local unexpectedly experienced the passing of the previous president, and through it all, she steadied the Local and ultimately grew the Local’s ranks and influence. For that, and her service to our Union, IFPTE is forever grateful.”
IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson also weighed in, saying, “Sister Parker has been a great leader to not only the members of Local 561 but also to the larger IFPTE Army Corps and federal membership. IFPTE wishes her and her family nothing but the best in her retirement.”
Regina Parker provided comments as well on the eve of her retirement: “While I am excited to move on to the next phase of my life, I do so with the pride of having been able to serve as president of Local 561 and as a longtime union officer. Even in retirement, I will continue to advocate for and support Local 561 and IFPTE as I can, and will continue to be a strong and vocal supporter of all the benefits that come with a union card.”
Among the many critical services she provided to the American public throughout her career was responding to Hurricane Katrina and performing mission management after damaging hurricanes in Alabama. IFPTE wishes Sister Parker and her family much success and peace in her retirement.
