IFPTE's Message to Senators: Do Your Constitutional Duty for Americans or Shut It Down

Senator Cory Booker

IFPTE commends and thanks Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey for his timely example of leadership in the Senate chamber over the past two days.  For more than twelve hours, Senator Booker has been speaking out on behalf of the millions of Americans being harmed by Elon Musk and DOGE's assault on our federal services and our democracy.

Many of these Americans are unable to speak up for themselves, as they are cut off from the Social Security benefits that they earned, as they suffer closures of small businesses and family farms, as they watch their loved ones suffer from completely preventable diseases, and as they brace themselves to deal with the day-to-day reality that every dollar they earn buys less and less under Donald Trump's disastrous tariffs and reckless economic policies.  We urge other thoughtful and patriotic Senators to follow Senator Booker's lead: If the United States Senate won't use its Constitutional powers to stand up for Americans in need at this moment in history, then shut it down.
