IFPTE Welcomes President Biden’s Renomination of Gwynne Wilcox for the National Labor Relations Board

As NLRB Member Since 2021, Wilcox “Has Demonstrated a Clear Commitment to Workplace Democracy” and to Upholding “Workers’ Rights to Organize Though Challenging Times”

WASHINGTON, DC – The executive officers of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), a labor union representing upwards of 90,000 employees and over 30,000 private sector professionals in the U.S., applauded President Biden’s nomination of Gwynne Wilcox to continue serving on the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). IFPTE issued the following statements.

IFPTE President Matthew Biggs:

“IFPTE applauds President Biden’s nomination of Gwynne Wilcox to serve a second term on the National Labor Relations Board. Ms. Wilcox was confirmed by the Senate in July 2021 to serve the remainder of a term that expires at the end of August this year. In that time, she has demonstrated a clear commitment to workplace democracy and making sure workers have the right to form and join unions, if they so choose. Her service on the NLRB builds on a distinguished career that includes working for 1199 SEIU-United Healthcare Workers East, as a partner at labor law firm Levy Ratner, and as a NLRB Region 2 field attorney in New York. IFPTE is proud to support Gwynne Wilcox and will advocate for the Senate to swiftly confirm her to serve a full term on the NLRB.”

IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson:

“Since Gwynne Wilcox was confirmed as the first African American woman on the NLRB in 2021, she has shown her thoughtfulness through her decision-making and support for rulemaking that upholds workers’ rights to organize through challenging times. Right now, and in the years ahead, Americans will have opportunities to unionize in advanced manufacturing industries, in clean energy and electrification, and in critical and strategic jobs. Ms. Wilcox is a highly qualified adjudicator whose expertise on the NLRB will be invaluable as she is called upon to protect collective bargaining for private-sector employees. IFPTE is excited to support President Biden’s nomination of Gwynne Wilcox for the NLRB.”

Across the United States and Canada, IFPTE represents 90,000 highly skilled workers in the federal, public, and private sectors. IFPTE is an affiliate of the AFL-CIO and the CLC. More information can be found at www.IFPTE.org.
