Local 121 Out in Force for Hawaii’s 2022 Labor Unity Picnic

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Hawaii’s annual Labor Unity Picnic was back this past weekend in Honolulu.  IFPTE Local 121, which is an annual participant at the Labor Day event, set up a booth at the event this year and provided food, souvenirs, and games for picnic attendees.

Local 121 president/Western Federal Area Vice President Jamie Uyeunten commented that, “This picnic provides union members and their families an opportunity to come together on Labor Day and collectively celebrate their many contributions as workers to our communities.  After two years of not experiencing this Solidarity, this year’s event was the most well-attended and celebrated one that I have seen yet.  All of us at Local 121 were proud to participate again this year and celebrate Labor Day in Solidarity with our union Sisters and Brothers from Hawaii’s larger labor community.”

The Unity Picnic also serves as a food drive in which the Hawaii AFL-CIO collects food donations from participants to support the Hawaii AFL-CIO Labor Community Services and food pantry.
