Local 196 Visits with New Jersey Congressman Chris Smith

IFPTE Local 196/Atlantic Area Vice President Sean McBride and Local 196 business manager Jimmy Robertello traveled to Washington, DC this week to attend an event for New Jersey Congressman Chris Smith.

While attending the event both McBride and Robertello had an opportunity to meet with Congressman Smith to discuss the major issues before Congress impacting Local 196 members and IFPTE members in New Jersey overall.

The Local 196 leaders also visited with Pennsylvania Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick.

McBride remarked d Rep. Smith:

“We thanked Congressman Smith for his staunch support of labor in New Jersey and the United States, and for his advocacy of The PRO Act, as well as the Public Sector Freedom to Negotiate Act, legislation that aims to mitigate the damage done to public sector unions in New Jersey and all throughout the United States by the Supreme Court’s misguided Janus decision.  Congressman Smith has been a friend to IFPTE for many years and it was great to be able to meet with him personally again.”

Robertello commented that:

“Both Sean and I were fortunate to be able to discuss union issues with two of the best union supporting lawmakers on the hill, Congressmen Brian Fitzpatrick and Chris Smith.  We were pleased to represent IFPTE at this event and look forward to continuing to work with both of these lawmakers for many years to come.”
