Join the IFPTE Women’s Solidarity Network for our 6th installment of the Women & Unions International Speaker Series. This online event will be focused on the gender pay gap and what this means for women’s economic security especially during COVID-19.
Deep disparities in earnings between men and women still exist and the COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on women’s participation in the workforce. The most recent estimates show women across the USA earned about 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. Canadian women earn an average of 88 cents for every dollar earned by men. The gap is wider for women who are Indigenous, living with a disability, racialized or newcomers.
Featuring Fay Faraday from the Equal Pay Coalition and moderated by Judge Mimi Tsankov from the National Association of Immigration Judges/IFPTE Judicial Council 2.
