Society Celebrates Islamic Heritage Month

The Society of United Professionals/IFPTE Local 160’s Coalition of Racialized Professionals (CORP) held an event last week to celebrate Islamic Heritage Month. Over 80 members and guests attended the virtual event. IFPTE President Matt Biggs and Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson were invited to bring greetings to participants.

The program included some trivia, highlights of Islamic contributions to math and science, and a cultural presentation of Turkey. Islamic Heritage Month is recognized annually in October. This recognition provides an opportunity to learn about the diversity of people who follow the Islamic faith, recognize their contributions, and honour the rich history of Islam.
