SPEEA Supports Flight Attendants for International Day of Action
SPEEA Contract Administrator Peter Campbell was among the union’s staff and activists who joined unionized flight attendants from Alaska and American Airlines near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for an international day of action called by the Association of Professional Flight Attendants and Association of Flight Attendants-Communications Workers of America on Thursday, June 13.
SPEEA, IFPTE 2001, supports members of both unions, who’ve been in prolonged contract talks with their employers over factors including unpaid work and wages that are so low that entry-level flight attendants in some markets qualify for food stamps. Other flight attendants say their scheduling and low pay mean they have to sleep in their cars, because they don’t have time to get home between flights, and they can’t afford homes closer to airports.
