SUP Marks Day of Mourning with a Virtual Ceremony
The Society of United Professionals (SUP/IFPTE Local 160) will mark the annual Day of Mourning to remember workers who have died on the job. This brief virtual ceremony led by SUP President Scott Travers will culminate in a moment of silence.
COVID-19 has changed the way we commemorate this important day but it is as important now as ever before. We have already seen tragic deaths of essential workers since the outbreak began, including a personal support worker and grocery store clerk.
While we mourn for the dead, April 28 is also a day to recommit to fight for the living. That fight is vital today as so many essential workers -- including some of our Society sisters and brothers -- continue to put themselves at risk to serve the rest of us.
