TEAM/IFPTE Local 161's New Executive Director

The TEAM Board is pleased to announce the hire of their new Executive Director, Katherine Johnson. Katherine has strong skills in board management, customer service, operations, finance, accounting, and mentoring employees and volunteers. These skills were developed in a career that included government economic development, small business ownership, private venture investing, and political management. One of Katherine’s career achievements was being elected to the Civil Service Superannuation Board, serving the retirement security of 27,000 Manitoba civil servants and their families.  Most recently, she was Executive Director for the Manitoba Liberal Party and Constituency Office Director for a member of parliament.

TEAM’s former Executive Director, Erin Spencer will be starting her new position as the IFPTE International Representative based in Manitoba.

The Local welcomed Katherine to her first union board meeting last week, joined by IFPTE International Representatives Bill Fitzpatrick and Anna Liu. The meeting kicked off with an update on IFPTE activities, particularly the upcoming 61st Convention in New Orleans. Afterward, time was devoted to furthering the Local’s strategic plan with a specific focus on the implementation of a work plan. TEAM’s Legal Counsel was also on hand to discuss preparations for upcoming contract renewal negotiations.
