TSSA Engineers Unionize
The Society of United Professionals (SUP/IFPTE Local 160) is pleased to announce that 34 engineers from the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) have joined the Society!
The campaign started in March with a vote held last week. The vote results were released by the Ontario Labour Relations Board last Friday and a resounding 88% voted Yes! Congratulations to the Society and TSSA engineers!
The TSSA is a self-funded, not-for-profit corporation responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Technical Standards and Safety Act and its regulations on behalf of the Government of Ontario. Since 1997, the TSSA works to enhance the safety of Ontarians in several areas, including: boilers and pressure vessels, operating engineers, elevating and amusement devices, upholstered and stuffed articles, and fuels. Administration of the safety standards in these areas includes engineering design reviews, inspections, investigations, licensing and registration, training and certification, and public education.
