AALJ Leadership on Capitol Hill
The Association of Administrative Law Judges (AALJ/IFPTE Judicial Council 1) president, Judge Som Ramrup, and AALJ/JC1 vice president, Judge Bill Ramsey, traveled to Washington, DC this week to participate in meetings on Capitol Hill with key Congressional offices.
The AALJ, representing the nation’s non-managerial Social Security Administration (SSA) Administrative Law Judges (ALJs), was accompanied on their Hill visits by IFPTE legislative director, Faraz Khan.
The offices they met with included House Oversight and Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee members and Senate Finance and House Ways and Means Committee members. Judge Ramrup commented on the visits: “It is critical that the AALJ continue to maintain strong bipartisan relationships with the lawmakers and their staff who have direct oversight of our agency, particularly the SSA’s Office of Hearing’s Operations. This week’s meetings were productive ones and allowed us to advocate for the key issues affecting the AALJ members.”
