CLC Calls on Government to Integrate Human Rights in Coronavirus Response

Join the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) in calling on the federal government of Canada to ensure human rights are part of the COVID-19 response.

Different communities are being impacted in various ways at this time and it is critical that the government set up human rights committees to monitor these developments, measure the impacts and advise the government. With a commitment to a Gender Based Analysis+ lens to its policies, setting up human rights committees are a natural progression towards ensuring that evidence-based policies are sound and adaptive to diverse needs and experiences. The federal government’s COVID-19 response committees must be mandated to identify any measures needed to strengthen human rights protection in COVID-19 response strategies; monitor for violations; provide information and recommendations to governments; and provide public updates.
