CLC President Bea Bruske Calls Out Conservative Leader O’Toole, Says His “Rhetoric Just Doesn’t Match His Record”

Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) President Bruske took issue this week with Conservative Party of Canada leader Erin O’Toole, who claims he supports Canada’s working families, yet has a long career and record of “defending large corporations.”

Bruske added:

“Conservative Erin O’Toole’s rhetoric just doesn’t match his record. He has repeatedly failed to support pensioners – and even wrote a law to make it easier for corporations to walk away from pension obligations.”

With Canadian federal elections scheduled for Monday, September 20, 2021, O’Toole’s record of opposing labour unions and labour rights is a critical issue for Canadians to consider. In in political career, O’Toole has:

  • voted to make it harder to refuse dangerous work.

  • voted to make it harder for us to organize, and easier for employers and the government to pry into union work.

  • voted for unfair trade deals that cost thousands of good manufacturing jobs then lied to defend them.
