CLUW Holds 22nd Biennial Convention

The Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW) held its 22nd biennial convention, November 9-13, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The theme for the convention was “Hear Us Roar…Ready For 2024” with a focus on the 2024 elections.  

Guest keynote speaker Ilhan Omar, U.S. Representative for Minnesota, addressed the delegation with a powerful message on the opening day of the convention. AFL-CIO National President Liz Schuler extended greetings as well via video message. Additional speakers during the convention included Claude Cummings - CWA National President, Tammy Duckworth - U.S. Senator of Illinois, Kate Miceli - DOL Women’s Bureau, and Janet Gerhard - FHE. 

Significant resolutions were adopted during the convention such as reproductive rights, maternal care, child care, women in construction trades, and mass shootings in America to name a few.  

IFPTE Local 195 former President Timothy Rudolph and Trustee Sherry Thomas, who were active members of CLUW, were among those recognized during the In Memoriam: Honoring Those Who Passed.  

CLUW will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024.
