SOLIDARITY ALERT: Former IFPTE President, Paul Shearon, Walks the Picket Line in Seattle with Striking Macy’s Workers
Macy’s workers in Washington State took to the picket lines on Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year.
The strike occurred after months of bargaining for pay that keeps up with inflation, and stronger safety measures put in place to protect worker safety. Former IFPTE President and Secretary-Treasurer, Paul Shearon, who picketed in Solidarity with the Macy’s workers commented that “it is shameful that a retail giant like Macy’s finds it difficult to compensate their workers in a manner that, at the very least, keeps up with inflation. Furthermore, these workers deal with the public every day and have experienced violence on the job. Their demands for common sense safety measures should be met as well.”
The strike included an inflatable rat that rivaled the size of the inflatables of the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Read more here at KIRONewsRadio.
