Donald Trump Elected President, Senate Control Flips to Republicans - IFPTE Responds
“We must all work together on causes and policies that will benefit our nation and working families and IFPTE stands ready to do just that”
WASHINGTON, DC – The executive officers of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), representing 90,000 workers across North America, released the following statement in response to yesterday’s elections results:
IFPTE President Matt Biggs:
“IFPTE is obviously disappointed that a good number of our labor-endorsed candidates, including Vice President Harris and several Senate candidates, fell short in last night’s election. That said, the voters made it clear that they prefer former President Trump to once again lead our nation. We are hopeful that some of the more draconian labor policies put forward by the first Trump Administration and those that have been laid out in Project 2025, particularly with respect to the federal sector, will be set aside during his second go around. Regardless, IFPTE and our coalition of labor partners are prepared to use all necessary resources to defend our hard-earned worker protections should they be targeted for erosion by the next administration.”
IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson:
“IFPTE congratulates former President Trump on his victory last night. As a Union representing workers in the federal, public and private sectors alike, we stand ready to provide the incoming president and his administration our policy ideas about protecting workers’ rights, moving forward labor law reform legislation that protects workers during union organizing drives, and providing government investment towards transitioning to a clean energy economy, including investments in workforce development. At the end of the day, we all must work together on causes and policies that will benefit our nation and working families and IFPTE stands ready to do just that.”
The United States Senate will be controlled by Republicans during the 119th Congress. Which party controls the House of Representatives has yet to be determined.
