Georgia Bill Targets Workers and Unions, Undermines Workers Ability to Organize – IFPTE Weighs-In

IFPTE weighed-in this week with lawmakers in the Georgia State House of Representatives as they were set to vote on draconian legislation whose intent is not only to stifle the ability of workers to organize, but also threaten the business interests of employers themselves.

The legislation is Senate Bill 362 (SB 362), which would deny companies in Georgia from taking advantage of tax incentives if they voluntarily recognize the union if a majority of their employees sign a union card.  IFPTE warned lawmakers that, “as federal investments and initiatives to spur private investments—thereby creating good jobs in critical industries, job opportunities for all Americans, and sustained economic growth—are being directed to all corners of America, this legislation threatens the ability of employers and industries to receive these investments in Georgia.”
