Henson, Khan Participate in 2023 Workers’ Voice Legislative Conference
Secretary-Treasurer, Gay Henson, and Legislative Director, Faraz Khan, were panelists at the AFL-CIO’s virtual Workers’ Voice State and Local Legislative Conference.
Secretary-Treasurer Henson participated on a panel entitled ‘The Electrification Supply Chain’, in which she discussed the climate crisis around the globe and the importance of government investment in the expansion of clean, safe, and affordable nuclear energy technologies to meet our carbon-free emissions energy production goals by 2050. Khan participated in a panel focused on the implementation of the CHIPS and Science Act, particularly as it relates to opportunities for federal investment for state and local governments.
Henson commented that “this was a great opportunity for IFPTE to put forward our vision for robust public investment in emerging and existing clean energy technologies to achieve our carbon-free climate goals while also meeting our ever-growing energy demands.” Khan also commented: “I was happy to have the opportunity to discuss IFPTE’s continued work to ensure that the investments called for in the CHIPS Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act go towards domestic workforce development here in the United States.”
The conference lasted for three days and can be viewed here.
