IFPTE Executive Officers Welcome Tim Walz to the Democratic Presidential Ticket

Union’s Executive Officers commend Minnesota Governor’s Lifetime of Public Service and Record of Fighting for Working Families

WASHINGTON, DC – On behalf of the 90,000 members and their families throughout North America, the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) issued statements of support for Vice President Kamala Harris’ selection of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her vice-presidential running mate for the upcoming November presidential elections.

IFPTE President Matthew Biggs:
“Vice President Kamala Harris could not have picked a more capable and principled leader than Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.  Our members know well Gov. Walz’s effectiveness as a fighter for those issues that matter to working families, including the right to join a union and collectively bargain.  Between now and November 6, we will be mobilizing our members in every state across the country, talking to our members about the new hope and commitment to freedom that a Harris-Walz Administration promises for them and future generations.”

IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Gay Henson:
“Tim Walz is truly a friend of working families and union members, and he brings a record of accomplishment in Congress and as Minnesota’s Governor that will strengthen the already dynamic campaign of Harris for President.  He has shown leadership in expanding worker protections and workplace safety at the state level, supporting our nation’s veterans in Congress, and standing up for economic fairness and working families.  We look forward to talking to our members about the pro-worker, pro-union records of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, as well as the brighter future that the Harris-Walz agenda envisions.”

Across the United States and Canada, IFPTE represents 90,000 highly skilled workers in the federal, public, and private sectors. IFPTE is an affiliate of the AFL-CIO and the Canadian Labour Congress.
