IFPTE Participates in 'Labor for Harris' Call
On Wednesday night, IFPTE participated in a Zoom call hosted by the AFL-CIO in support of Vice President Kamala Harris’ candidacy for president of the United States.
The call brought together thousands of labor activists and supporters from across the country to mobilize for the 2024 election, and IFPTE was aptly represented by Tryshanda Moton, executive vice-president of IFPTE Local 29 and president of the IFPTE NASA Council. IFPTE endorsed Kamala Harris for President on July 23 based on her support for IFPTE members’ priority issues.
On the call, Tryshanda noted, “In Kamala Harris, we have a nominee for President who has stood with federal workers and led the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing, which set the goal of making the federal government a model employer. The Biden-Harris Administration sees federal workers and their unions as partners.”
The energy on the call was palpable, and folks from all over our movement came together ready to go all in this fall. It was inspiring to hear all corners of the labor movement come together and do what we do best: organize! The AFL says more than 1,650 attendees signed up to volunteer by hitting the doors and phones to put a pro-workers, pro-union candidate like Vice President Kamala Harris into office.
The message was simple: In the next three months, labor is going to leave it all on the field to protect our jobs, our union, and our contracts. We know that when working people stand together, we’re far more powerful than the CEOs and far-right special interest groups trying their hardest to secure a second Trump Term.
