IFPTE Attends and Participates in AFL-CIO Conference on Digital Technology
IFPTE staff, officers, and members participated in a two-day conference this week at the AFL-CIO national headquarters in Washington, DC, that took a close look at the ever-growing threat that Artificial Intelligence (AI) poses to jobs moving forward.
The conference was hosted by the AFL-CIO technology institute and took a deep dive into the current and future impacts of digital technology, including what AI has on our lives, in our workplaces, and to our democracy.
Among the highlights of the conference was a panel discussion entitled, “Digital Technology on the Ground--How is Digital Technology Affecting Jobs, Workers?”. Panel participants included IFPTE Policy Advisor Stan Sorscher, who outlined the negative impacts that AI could have on the due process protections of citizens, including those appearing before Social Security Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) to have their disability determination cases heard.
