IFPTE Endorses Dan Benson for Mercer County Executive
Union calls Benson “a stalwart supporter of working families”

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), representing 90,000 workers across North America, including upwards of 12,000 public sector workers in New Jersey, has declared their support for Dan Benson to be Mercer County’s next County Executive.

“When it comes to standing up for working families, there are few bigger champions than Dan Benson,” Matt Biggs, President of IFPTE, said. “Dan will bring dignity to workers, economic development to Mercer County, and an overall vision that will make residents across Mercer proud.  We need people like Dan in all levels of government, and we are excited to start the work to make him the next Mercer County Executive.”

IFPTE Local 196 President/Atlantic Area Vice President/New Jersey State AFL-CIO Vice President, Sean McBride, also weighed in on the endorsement: “Assemblyman Benson has been a stalwart supporter of working families and their collective bargaining rights and will continue to do so as Mercer County Executive. We at IFPTE know it firsthand, as he has never said no to us when we requested his support for IFPTE’s diverse membership in New Jersey. We are proud to lend him our full support.”

“Workers and their families have always been at the forefront of all the work we do,” Assemblyman Dan Benson said.  “The county must improve the material conditions of residents, and our partners in labor will play a major role in creating a better Mercer County for all residents.  I’m honored to have IFPTE’s endorsement, and I’m looking forward to getting to work alongside them and their members.”

Among the thousands of workers IFPTE represents in New Jersey are those employed at Thomas Edison College, Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Corrections, and the New Jersey Turnpike to name a few.
