IFPTE Executive Council Meets to Complete Convention Business, Welcomes New Eastern Federal Area Vice President
The IFPTE Executive Council met virtually this week to consider and complete constitutionally required pre-convention business. Among the business considered and voted on was recommending a three-year operating budget for the Federation covering Fiscal Years 2026, 2027, and 2028, and to review Executive Council resolutions that will be referred to the Policy, Law and/or Credentials Committees.
The Council also voted to select Benjamin Emmel as the new Eastern Federal Area Vice President. Emmel is president of the GAO Employees Organization (GAO/IFPTE Local 1921) and fills the open seat left vacant due to the resignation of former VP, Renae McKenzie, who recently accepted a job not represented by IFPTE. After his appointment, Emmel commented, “It is an honor to serve on the International’s Executive Council. I am proud to be working in partnership with my fellow Federal Vice President, Jamie Uyeunten, as we advocate for federal employees. This is a crucial time for labor, and as we bring the major issues facing our federal sector to our Council and our Executive Officers, I look forward to working in Solidarity with our entire IFPTE family.”
IFPTE’s 61st Convention will be held in New Orleans from July 8-11, 2024. Information can be found here.
