IFPTE Joins Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz in Urging Robust Funding for Legislative Branch Agencies
This week IFPTE’s executive officers penned a letter to Senate lawmakers urging them to support strong funding for legislative branch agencies, including the Congressional Research Service (CRS) and the Government Accountability Office (GAO), agencies where thousands of IFPTE represented members are employed.
The letter, which reinforces the efforts of IFPTE’s longtime friend, Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz, reminds Senators that it is,“in the public interest to ensure adequate resources, competitive pay and benefits, and proper funding levels for Legislative Branch employees.” The letter also requests Congress provide livable wages and benefits for Senate staff and committee interns so that low pay is not a barrier to qualified individuals who want to serve the public by working on Capitol Hill.
