Ontario Federation of Labour Applauds NDP Commitment to Decent Work and Access to Unionization

With less than two week to go until the provincial elections, the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) issued a statement applauding the Ontario NDP announcement that, if elected, they will introduce card check certification and make it easier to join a union.

“As the Official Opposition, Andrea Horwath and the Ontario NDP have proven their commitment to unions and working people in Ontario,” said Patty Coates, Ontario Federation of Labour President.

Card check certification would allow workers to form a union if 55 per cent of employees at a job site sign union cards. This will reduce employer intimidation, delaying tactics, and other factors that prevent workers from winning union representation when they have a majority of support.
