IFPTE Joins the American Labor Movement in Urging an End to the Filibuster
As the United States Senate prepares to consider critically important voting rights legislation next week, which will include votes to end the filibuster, America’s labor movement called the undemocratic procedure, “a constant source of gridlock.” In doing so, IFPTE President Matt Biggs added his name to a letter signed by labor leaders from across America, including AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler, telling lawmakers that, “To save democracy, to protect the rights of working people and to have a government that can secure a prosperous future for America, we need democracy in the U.S. Senate.” Read the AFL-CIO letter.
