IFPTE Local 121 Leaders Meet Virtually With Rep. Ed Case and Hawaii Congressional Delegation Staff

This week, IFPTE Local 121 leaders discussed the membership's priority issues with Hawaii Congressman Ed Case via video conference. Joining Local 121 President and Western Federal Area VP Jamie Uyeunten were the Local's Executive VP Irwan Sie, Sargent at Arms Mel Shinohara, DPAA Chief Steward Ryan Taira, and IFPTE staff.

The meeting with Rep. Case capped off the previous week's detailed meetings with staff from Hawaii's Congressional delegation, which also includes Sen. Brian Schatz, Sen. Maize Hirono, and Rep. Kai Kahele. Local 121 President Uyeunten commented, “We thank Rep. Case and his staff for taking a direct interest in our members’ issues and for working with the state’s Congressional offices to help us resolve our concerns. Local 121 is fortunate to have a strong working relationship with his office and with Hawaii delegation.”

Issues that Local 121 leaders discussed included the status of the longstanding global agreement on overtime pay for Navy shipyard employees, maintaining the pay rates for federal employees in non-foreign areas, stopping the inappropriate outsourcing of Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency jobs that should rightfully be inherently governmental, and other issues important to Local 121 members and federal sector members throughout IFPTE.
