IFPTE Remembers Ten-Year Anniversary of Sandy Hook

December 14, 2022 marks 10 years since the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy took the lives of 20 children and five staff . IFPTE has mourned these innocent victims each year and is doing so once again on this very sad, ten-year anniversary. Since that time, the building was demolished and a new Sandy Hook School constructed, and recently a memorial honoring the victims was unveiled.

IFPTE International Representative, David LaFemina, who assisted the Local during this difficult time, provided the following statement on behalf of the IFPTE family to the victims: “It has been ten years, but that day continues to weigh heavy on my heart and in my mind. Since that tragic day, we continue to see these tragedies—most recently in Uvalde, Texas earlier this year where innocent children and teachers were taken from us—just as they were at Sandy Hook. IFPTE stands with all of these victims’ families and are here for them, and continue to work with our Sisters and Brothers in our labor movement in calling for common sense measures to prevent these tragedies.”
