Labor 2024 Update: LaFemina, Khan, Kildee, Biggs Pound the Pavement in Pennsylvania
Legislative Director, Faraz Khan, International Rep, David LaFemina, Assistant to the Executive Officers, Brian Kildee, and International President, Matt Biggs,, continued their efforts this week in Pennsylvania to Get Out the Union Vote in support of the labor movement’s 2024 efforts to elect Union-endorsed candidates up and down the ballot, including Kamala Harris for President, Tim Walz for Vice President, and Bob Casey for Senator.
While Khan, Biggs, and LaFemina worked with the Philadelphia AFL-CIO, Kildee continued his efforts in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Khan, who also serves as IFPTE's Political Director, commented that “as we close in on election day it remains important that IFPTE ramp up its efforts to support the Labor 2024 program, as the candidates that we all have endorsed, particularly those endorsed by IFPTE, will be critical in moving IFPTE’s legislative priorities forward over the next several years.”
Kildee also commented, saying “the energy on the ground here in Harrisburg among Union members and volunteers canvassing Union households is strong, and will no doubt continue to be through election day. I am proud to represent IFPTE here in Harrisburg.”
IFPTE continues to support the day-to-day operation of the AFL-CIO's program in central Pennsylvania, which currently has over two dozen full-time canvassers in the Harrisburg area daily. Right now, volunteers are helping remind union members who have requested mail ballots to return them as soon as possible, so those ballots turn into votes for Harris-Walz.
