Local 121 Celebrates Groundbreaking for New Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Dry Dock

IFPTE Local 121 President/Western Area Federal Area Vice President, Jamie Uyeunten, celebrated with a historic installation of the inaugural pile grouping for the new Dry Dock 5 at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.

The groundbreaking ceremony marked a significant milestone with the permanent installation of the inaugural pile grouping for the new dry dock which was signed by each guest. The ceremony, which took place on February 24, 2024 was originally scheduled to take place in August but was postponed out of respect after the Maui wildfires.  

President Uyeunten commented on the ceremony:  “Local 121 is thankful to Senator Hirono along with Senator Schatz, Representative Case, and Representative Tokuda for being here at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard for this celebration and for procuring the funding for this strategically important dry dock.  This is of utmost importance for our Navy and our national defense, and the federal workforce here at Pearl Habor Naval Shipyard is proud to be here to do the work necessary to support our Navy and our nation’s national defense.”
