Local 777 Scores Big Win Against Management Effort to Erode Bargaining Unit
After a year of fighting against Army Corps of Engineers Chicago district management’s efforts to erode bargaining unit membership, IFPTE Local 777 scored a huge win this week in a settlement agreement. The dispute occurred when management claimed that over 10 “Department of Army Fellows” were outside of the bargaining unit. Faced with multiple challenges from Local 777, management acquiesced. Local 777 president, Colin Smalley, commented on the win: “After trying to work with management to clarify this situation, Local 777 was forced to file a clarification petition with the FLRA, plus ULP charges for each time management treated the fellows as outside the unit, including refusing to honor dues deduction and denying grievances saying the CBA didn’t apply. After a year of working with the FLRA to try to reach a compromise, management finally offered to settle, giving us what we wanted all along. We’re really proud of this win.”
Congratulations Local 777!
