SOLIDARITY ALERT: From Coast to Coast, SPEEA and IFPTE Stand Strong with Boeing Firefighters
IFPTE reinforced SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001’s strong stand of Solidarity this week with the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local I-66 members employed by the Boeing Company, who were locked out by the aerospace giant on May 4th. In a letter sent to IAFF President, Edward Kelly, and Secretary-Treasurer, Frank Lima, IFPTE wrote that “with the extreme scrutiny that Boeing’s overall safety record continues to endure across the globe, one would think that management would be eager to extend a fair contract proposal to the members of IAFF Local I-66.”
The IFPTE letter comes on the heels of SPEEA/IFPTE Local 2001’s stand of Solidarity with the Local I-66. IFPTE was also on hand this week to lend its voice to over 100 IAFF members from across the Mid-Atlantic at a protest in support of the Firefighters at the Boeing Washington, DC office.
