“No Contract, No Coffee”: Former IFPTE President Paul Shearon Walks the Line with Starbucks Workers
Former IFPTE President Paul Shearon joined Starbucks workers in a protest last week at the company’s corporate headquarters in Seattle. This latest worker-led action protesting Starbuck’s ongoing union-busting efforts against their employees seeking to organize unions came a day prior to the company’s annual shareholder meeting.
Shearon, who retired as IFPTE president at the conclusion of the 2021 Convention, commented: “I am proud to walk the line with these Starbucks workers who are demanding a livable wage, safe workplaces, and a collective bargaining agreement. Now that former CEO Howard Schultz, who led the effort to bust unionization at his stores across the nation, has resigned, it is high time that the new CEO change course and get out of the way of these workers trying to exercise their right to unionize.”
