Ontario Passes the Working for Workers Act, Bill 27

The Ontario government has passed new rules that will change work-life balance for employees. Ontario businesses with 25 or more workers will have to have a written policy about employees' rights when it comes to disconnecting from their job at the end of the day. Among other changes includes: a ban on non-compete clauses in employment contracts; removal of "unfair" work experience requirements for foreign-trained immigrants trying to work in their professions; and the introduction of a mandatory licensing framework for temporary help agencies and recruiters to help prevent labour trafficking.
