Secretary-Treasurer Henson Continues Showing IFPTE’s Solidarity with Volkswagen Workers - On the Ground and In the Press

Secretary-Treasurer Henson continued to extend IFPTE’s strong support this past weekend for the Volkswagen workers in Chattanooga set to vote for Union representation with the United Auto Workers (UAW).  She did so by visiting directly with VW workers for the second straight weekend, and also through an op-ed in the Chattanooga Times Free Press entitled, “Tennessee Politicians and Their Rich Buddies Shouldn’t Interfere with the Union Election at VW.”

She took anti-union politicians to task who have inserted themselves in the organizing drive with misleading claims that unionizing plants could lead to plant closures, calling the false assertions, “nothing more than a tired scare tactic,” while also setting the record straight by writing, “Unions help save jobs — and that's something I can attest to from personal experience.”

The vote by the VW workers to unionize is set for April 17-19.  Learn more about the historic organizing drive here, and read Secretary-Treasurer Henson’s editorial here
